Broad Function

To supervise project work and responsible for general duties and upkeep of the laboratory, supporting commercial and lifecycle management activities.

 

Principle Responsibilities

Perform process development laboratory work to support manufacturing and CMC activities of new and established biological products. 
Experience with AKTA unicorn software, tangential flow filtration, viral filtration, etc desirable
Experience of purification of antibodies desirable. 
Experience of working within a laboratory or cleanroom environment.
Help to develop novel methodologies to support new and existing manufacturing processes. Apply mathematical and statistical modeling (knowledge of DoE) to validate scaled-down process models and define process limits. Potential to transfer new small-scale methodologies and techniques to production scale
Support the supervision and training of scientists within process development.
Represent the CMC team at project team meetings 
Responsible for the housekeeping of the laboratory and instrumentation to ensure the timely and accurate generation of data.
Ensure all activities follow standard operating procedures and/or protocols and, where appropriate, are performed in compliance with GxP.
Independently design, plan and execute own laboratory studies.
Carry out other reasonable tasks as required by the Line Manager.

Principal Relationships

  • Responsible for: Scientist / Associate Scientists as required.
  • Internal: Liaise with internal personnel at all levels of the business as required.
  • External: Liaise with external 3rd parties as required

 

Education and Experience

  • Educated to degree level in an appropriate scientific discipline.
  • Experience in a biopharmaceutical or closely related industry and strong knowledge of regulatory requirements.
  • Computer literate.
