About BTG

BTG provides rescue medicines typically used in emergency rooms and intensive care units to treat patients for whom there are limited treatment options. We are dedicated to delivering quality medicines that make a real difference to patients and their families through the development, manufacture, and commercialisation of pharmaceutical products. Our current portfolio of antidotes counteracts certain snake venoms and the toxicity associated with some heart and cancer medications.

Broad Function

Be an active member of the Production Team whilst assisting the Production Supervisor / Sr Production Technician(s) to conduct a number of sheep handling activities (indoor and outdoor) for the immunisation and bleeding programs and associated activities for the production of antibodies in the BTG sheep flock, including the maintenance of appropriate records and documentation.

Assist in the maintenance of the Production Facility buildings and operation to the standard approved by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) and the USA Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and in accordance with the principles of the Code of Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP).

Principle Responsibilities

Support the production of low bio-burden serum from the blood harvested in the Production Facility by:

• Strictly following all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) that are in use within the production unit
• Conducting all operations and procedures with the utmost attention to detail, hygiene and safety
• Ensuring routine animal husbandry practices are carried out on an industry “best practice” basis and in accordance with the “Model Code of Practice for the Welfare of Animals – The Sheep”.
• Ensuring that any suspected health problems are reported immediately to the Production Supervisor, a Sr Production Technician(s), or Veterinarian and assist when required

Education and Experience

• A tertiary qualification in Animal Science / Agriculture or similar would be desirable but not essential
• Front end loader / Telehandler licenses would be advantageous but not essential
• Proficient IT skills mainly in Microsoft Office suite

Skills and Attributes

• A current South Australian Driver’s Licence is required
• Ability to work in a close team environment
• Good communication, literacy, written and numeracy skills essential
• High attention to detail
