We are looking for our future Regional Medical Science Liaison (MSL) Director - Europe (F/H) to join our fast growing specialty pharmaceutical company and lead our team of of Regional MSLs. This role will ideally be based in our Paris office.

 

Job summary :

Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, the Regional MSL Director is responsible for leading, developing, and executing regional Medical Science Liaison (MSL) strategies across key European markets. This role provides strategic and operational leadership to a team of country-based MSLs, ensuring high-quality scientific exchange with healthcare professionals (HCPs), alignment with global and regional medical objectives, and consistent medical excellence across the region.The therapy areas of focus for this role are primarily oncology and rare diseases.

The role serves as a key regional medical leader and partner to EU Medical Affairs, Regional Commercial, Market Access, and Clinical Development teams.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

 

Strategic Leadership:

 

  • Develop and implement the regional MSL strategy aligned with EU Medical Affairs objectives, regional business priorities and local business objectives.
  • Support translation of EU Medical strategies into actionable regional and local medical plans
  • Support development of local plans, and implement team goals and objectives in alignment with Medical Affairs organization.
  • Provide scientific leadership and ensure consistent, high-quality medical engagement across European markets

 

 

Team Leadership & Development:

 

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of MSLs across key European countries
  • Foster a culture of scientific excellence, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Support field talent development, talent retention, coaching and mentoring.
  • Set clear performance expectations and conduct regular performance reviews
  • Identify capability gaps and drive continuous professional development and medical excellence
  • Oversee the development of onboarding, scientific training curriculum and materials.
  • Foster a collaborative, compliant, and high-performance team culture

 

 

Scientific Engagement & External Partnerships

 

  • Oversee & support scientific exchange across the portfolio, including advisory boards and expert panel meetings.
  • Ensure the development of KOL engagement plans and support in execution of plans.
  • Where appropriate at EU level, build and maintain strong relationships with regional KOLs, academic institutions, professional societies, and other key external stakeholders.
  • Ensure development of KOL engagements plans within the medical teams.
  • Assist in the development of comprehensive, national, and regional congress plans in collaboration with Medical Affairs
  • Share insights from field visits & conferences with internal stakeholders on a regular basis.
  • Act as a senior medical point of contact for regional external stakeholders when needed.

 

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

 

  • Partner closely with Global and EU Medical Affairs to ensure regional alignment
  • Collaborate with Regional Commercial, Market Access, Regulatory, and Clinical teams to support product lifecycle activities
  • Provide medical input into regional launch planning, evidence generation, and post-launch activities
  • Ensure clear and compliant communication between global and local stakeholders

 

 

Operational Excellence & Compliance:

 

  • Conduct MSL field visits, offering feedback to support improvement of skills to impact performance and professional development
  • Develop, direct, and evaluate all MSL activities, including training & educational activities, supporting clinical development activities, and interactions with KOLs, healthcare providers and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure that MSLs hold robust current scientific knowledge to facilitate timely, appropriate, balanced, scientific exchanges with key external experts.
  • Track and monitor team’s performance in delivering local plans, KOL plans, achievements and execution of key medical/scientific activities.
  • Establish clear KPIs, performance measures and tracking for all local MSLs.
  • Provide monthly/quarterly reports of MSL team achievements & performance to the regional medical leadership and/or Chief Medical Officer.
  • Ensure all medical activities are conducted in compliance with local regulations, company policies, and industry codes
  • Oversee the Field Medical team in ensuring rigorous scientific training
  • Manage regional MSL budgets and resource planning as applicable

 

 

Qualifications & Experience

 

Education

 

  • Advanced scientific degree in a healthcare science required

 

 

Experience

 

  • Significant experience (>5 years) in Medical Affairs / Field Medical roles within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry
  • Proven experience leading MSL teams at local, regional or global level
  • Strong understanding of the European healthcare environment and country-specific medical affairs requirements
  • Experience in oncology and / or rare disease is desirable.
  • Experience working across multiple European markets and cultures

  • Ideally located in our Paris office (Paris 8, Monceau)

 

 

Travel
